S. Bersimis The use of big data is of particular importance for the health sector. In particular, the analysis of big data can provide important information on disease, disease associations, association of diseases and risk factors, as well as the development of a framework for personalized patient medical care. In addition, the analysis of big data can be a mean for the protection of public funding as it can be a tool for tackling fraud in the health sector. Furthermore, the results of the analysis can be the basis for the design of intelligent/smart applications and/or software in the field of health.
