Dr Stavrou is Associate Professor of Science Education, University of Crete, Faculty of Education, Department of Primary Education and Director of the Science Teaching Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Science Education (University of Kiel, Germany), a
Master in Science Education (University of Athens, Department of Primary Education), a B. Sc. in Chemistry (Department of Chemistry, University of Athens) and A.A. Pedagogical Academy of Larisa, Greece (1986). His research is focused on:
• Educational Reconstruction of modern science topics (Nanotechnology, Nonlinear Systems, Quantum Mechanics)
• Pre- and in-service teacher training in Science Education
• Science Education & Educational Technology
Recent EU funded research Projects include:
• “IRRESISTIBLE”, a project on teacher training, combining formal and informal learning focused on Responsible Research and Innovation. FP7-SCIENCE-IN-SOCIETY-2013-1, ACTIVITY 5.2.2 Young people and science.
