Short Bio

Marc Filerman is a member of the Accelerator Team at CIMIT (the Center for Improving Medicine with Innovation and Technology) – a consortia of Boston-area academic medical centers, MIT and Harvard that finds, funds and facilitates commercialization of medical technologies. He reviews grant proposals, mentors early-stage project teams and manages the CIMIT Healthcare Commercialization Boot Camp program – an intensive 7-week program that helps academically based projects develop a commercialization roadmap.

He has broad cross-functional experience in marketing, R&D, sales and manufacturing, with a focus on medical imaging, operating room devices and medical software. Prior to joining CIMIT, Marc co-founded Cold Spring Diagnostics, a molecular imaging startup focused on improving diagnosis of lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Before Cold Spring Diagnostics, Marc was VP of Global Marketing atiCAD, an image analysis software company focused on early cancer detection. Prior to iCAD, he was Group Director of Marketing at Smith & Nephew Endoscopy where he started and managed the $30M Digital Operating Room business.

Marc started his career as an Engineer in Hewlett-Packard’s Medical Products group (now Philips Healthcare) designing ultrasound imaging equipment for cardiovascular applications.

Marc graduated from M.I.T. with Masters and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering (Course 2).
