A methodology for decision taking in order to assist the land use planning in adjacent areas of industrial installations covered by Directive SEVESO II is presented. The methodology incorporates a wide range of multiple and often conflicting criteria, resulting in land-use planning decisions, through the implementation of the multi-criteria analysis ELECTRE TRI. Additionally, the methodology is developed to take into account the specificities of the Greek reality, regarding the type and availability of risk data and land use, covering in this way the requirements of national and European laws. Finally, the specific methodology is simple in its use and can be incorporated into GIS environment tools.
