Dr. Dimitrios Anagnostopoulos Dr. Dimitrios Anagnostopoulos studied Chemistry in the University of Athens, Greece and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D.degrees in Biochemistry from the same University. During his studies (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) he visited as a young researcher the Center for Drug Discovery of Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts) and the institute ISOF of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR; Βologna, Italy) where he gained experience in the scientific areas of analytical and radical chemistry in projects relative to lipids metabolism and their biological activity. He has worked as a research collaborator in the Bioanalytical Department of the The Goulandris Natural Museum and the currently in the lab of “Free Radicals in Nano- and Bio-technology” of INN Institute, NCSR Demokritos. He is responsible for the scientific bridging between the two spin-off companies Lipinutramed Ltd and LipinutragenSrl located in Greece and Italy, respectively.
The scientific advancements in molecular medicine established membrane lipidomics as an innovative and personalised toolto understandmetabolic pathways and the overall condition of humanorganism, which is strongly related to diet and life style. The gap between the modern approach of molecular medicine and the standard diagnostics in prevention and health care must be filled inby a strong implication of scientists that are able to combine multidisciplinary expertise and bring innovation to the market. This effort is necessary to update clinical monitoring and medical protocols and to create a new generation of professionals, facing successfully the challenge of aging and diseases in the 21st century.
With this aimthe multidisciplinary experience of scientists in the analytical, biochemical, nutritional, and diagnostics fields have contributed to the development of “nutrilipidomics” in the health and nutrition markets. A holistic strategy, which combines an innovative lipidomic analytical tool (FAT profile®) with an individualized nutraceutical intervention (via the Nutragenika line)that enhances the quality of life, shall be illustrated.
The “nutrilipidomics” strategy, that is a combination of molecular diagnostics techniques for the determination of the specific profile of the patient and a personalised approach for nutrition and nutraceuticals, has changed the actual productive chain and the health marketing strategy, leading to a sustainable innovation, from science to the market and back.
