Short Bio

Dr. Eirini Fragogeorgi received her degree in Chemistry (October 2002) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Then, she pursued postgraduate studies in Radiochemistry by obtaining a M.Sc (March 2005) and a Ph.D (May 2009) from the Dept. of Chemistry of NKUA in collaboration with the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR “Demokritos”), where she was a doctorate fellow at the Radiochemistry Studies Laboratory of the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences and Technology, Energy & Safety (INRASTES) (March 2005-March 2009). Since then, she has been working at the same Laboratory of NCSR “Demokritos”, initially in collaboration with the Nuclear Medical Imaging Research Group of the Department of the Biomedical Engineering at the University of West Attica, and currently in the framework of the Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship of Stavros Niarchos Foundation in collaboration with the BIOEMTECH company. Her research interests involve the radiochemical evaluation, the in vitro cellular uptake and the in vivo assessment in small animal models of various novel compounds from low molecular weight molecules such as peptides up to highly hybrid structures such as nanoparticles for new medical applications including oncology, brain diseases, tissue engineering and cardiology. She has participated in 4 H2020 research projects, 4 FP7 research projects, 1 COST Action and 3 national projects. Her research work includes 25 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 9, 264 citations), 32 presentations in conferences, 1 book chapter and 1 national patent.
