Industrial Research Fellowship Program – Stavros Niarchos Foundation
The National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” proudly introduces the Industrial Research Fellowship Program, made possible by a generous Grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, a Program aimed towards talented young Researchers with an eye on for the applied, industrial Research.
Interested Researchers at the Doctorate, the Post Doctorate or the most senior Adjunct Researcher status were asked to submit proposals in collaboration with high-technology Enterprises operating in Greece as well as with Research Teams of the Centre. The proposed topics had to be strongly oriented towards specific interests of the participating companies. Any size of company from big, to SME, to innovation-driven startup was welcome to participate. Three types of Fellowships have been designed: Four-year terms for Doctoral Candidates, three-year terms for Postdoctoral Associates and four-year terms for the Adjunct Researchers. For each Award the participating Company will cover one year of the Fellow’s stipend while the Stavros Niarchos Foundation will cover the remaining ones. Demokritos will provide all the laboratory consumables and infrastructure required for the proposed research, the expert advice and guidance of its research personnel and all the management costs of the Program.
The proposals have been peer-reviewed by a network of Experts from Universities and Research Centers from all over Greece. The evaluation criteria included the Applicant’s Academic Profile and research accomplishments, the scientific merit of the proposal and finally the degree of commitment and involvement of the Company in the proposed research. The Board of Directors of Demokritos selected all the proposals that surpassed the preset threshold criteria.
On July 5th 2017, in a special session of the 5th International Hellenic Forum for Science Technology and Innovation we celebrate the kick-off this unique program. Please join us at the main auditorium of Demokritos from 19:00 to 21:00 hours.
