Dimitris Kletsas has a Diploma in Biology from the University of Thessaloniki and a PhD from the University of Athens. He is now Research Director at NCSR “Demokritos” and Head of the Laboratory of Cell Proliferation and Ageing at the Institute of Biosciences and Applications. He is an author of more than 140 publications and 2 patents. Currently, he is the President of the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB) and of the European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS). His research interests include cellular senescence and age-related pathologies, wound healing, cancer, intervertebral disc degeneration, growth factors, signaling pathways, stress, extracellular matrix, natural products, biomaterials, stem cells and cell replacement therapies.
