Dr. Odysseas Cartalos Odysseas Cartalos has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a “Habilitation” from the Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble, France. He worked for 10 years as research manager in the oil&gas industry and then moved to consulting.
Throughout his career, his work focused on topics related to research, innovation and competitiveness. He, thus, acquired senior practical experience in strategic and business development, innovation management, technology transfer and commercialisation of research results.
He was, also, extensively involved with the design, evaluation and impact assessment of economic development programmes, offering such services to the European Parliament, the European Commission and other institutions / government bodies in charge of policy making.
Dr. Cartalos has authored 35 scientific publications, 2 patents and a large number of consulting studies and reports.
The Agricultural University of Athens has implemented a Programme to support commercial exploitation of its research, comprising of three main phases: (a) promotion campaign to generate exploitation proposals from research staff; (b) assessment of technological and commercial perspectives of proposals; and (c) provision of customized consulting support and training for the launch of an entrepreneurial action.
The presentation will concentrate on results and lessons learned through this hands-on approach to Technology Transfer. Conclusions will also be given as to the matters to be addressed for sustainable Technology Transfer structures to be developed in Greek public sector research organizations.
